It's never too late to turn things around

The appointment of a new Prime Minister ought not to water down the commitment to the levelling up agenda on which the government was elected.

No mandate to scrap it has been given. Yet any of the very limited policy progress made in recent months – like the introduction of the Levelling Up and Regeneration Bill – now appears at risk of being undone.
