A coalition of Conservative and Liberal Democrat councillors has taken control of York City Council, following this month’s local elections.
The Labour group lost control of the city council following the 7 May polls and was reduced to 15 councillors leaving York under no overall control.
But with the Conservatives gaining 14 seats and the Liberal Democrats winning 12– and four Green Party and two independent councillors also represented – it became possible for the two groups to join forces.
